Ballet Embody is Maryland's premier professional contemporary ballet company, based in Westminster, Maryland. Founded in 2019 by Emily Runkle and Melissa Lineburg, Ballet Embody has performed five full-length ballets for Carroll County audiences including their original version of The Nutcracker called The Maryland Nutcracker. Ballet Embody will be performing selections from The Maryland Nutcracker, as well as traditional classical ballet dances and contemporary dance pieces, intertwining a fun and engaging lecture demonstration on how ballet has evolved through the last several centuries. Audience members are invited to ask questions about ballet technique, storytelling, what it's like to be a ballerina, etc. at the end of the performance.
