Description
Frank Batavick, local author and historian, will talk about his most recent book, the second edition of Time's Crossroads: A History of New Windsor, MD. Time’s Crossroads is heavily illustrated with archival maps, engravings, and over 200 photos, some published for the first time. This update to his 2017 book features new research on the early years of the town, its heyday as a resort, and its notable architecture, including the storied Dielman Inn. The quirky village has been home to the Army officer who captured Geronimo, an artist whose paintings have sold for over $60 million at Sotheby’s, and a musician who became the Grammy Award winning keyboardist for Elton John. The town has also experienced bank robberies, romantic scandals involving literary lions, and even an appearance by Julia Roberts in the Methodist church.
