Description

Presented by Carroll County Public Library, Carroll Lutheran Village, and Park Books on Main

Ernest Thompson’s work as a filmmaker, playwright, and lyricist has been acclaimed around the world. He has won an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, Writers Guild and Broadway Drama Guild Awards, and  was nominated for a Tony, an Emmy, and a British Academy Award. His dozens of plays have been produced in thousands of theatres, both large and small, and his most enduring, On Golden Pond, has been translated into 30 languages and presented in more than 40 countries. Current projects include Home On Golden Pond, the sequel to his iconic movie; the short film The Constituent; several new plays; and numerous videos for songs he’s written with his favorite collaborators. His hilarious and deeply moving first novel, The Book of Maps, published in 2022, has resulted in an endless book tour and inquiries into adapting the ultimate father-son road trip into a streaming series. And his latest book, Out Clause, is an epic literary thriller you won't be able to put down. With his writer wife, Kerrin Thompson, he established Rescind Recidivism, a prison writing program providing inmates a chance to feel creative as well as human, capable, and worthy.
