Description
Books are essential, so join us for the first event in a week-long celebration of books!
Larry Tye is the bestselling author of Bobby Kennedy and Satchel, as well as Superman, The Father of Spin, Home Lands, and Rising from the Rails, and co-author, with Kitty Dukakis, of Shock. His most recent book, Demagogue: The Life and Long Shadow of Senator Joe McCarthy, is the definitive biography of the most dangerous demagogue in American history, based on a first-ever review of his personal and professional papers, medical and military records, and recently unsealed transcripts of his closed-door Congressional hearings.
The author will be joined in conversation with Brian Frosh, Attorney General for the State of Maryland. Prior to his current office, he served in the Maryland General Assembly for 28 years, including 12 as chairman of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. Brian has a connection to the book, his father, Stanley Frosh, also an attorney represented a federal employee accused of being a communist by Joseph McCarthy.
Presented by A Likely Story Bookstore, the Historical Society of Carroll County, and Carroll County Public Library.
