Antiques and Collectibles: Just the Basics, Please

Antiques anyone? Yes, please! Please welcome William Jones, Fine Arts & Music Department Manager from Enoch Pratt, to our branch for his expertise in collecting. Collecting is a popular and fascinating hobby. In this presentation, we'll look at aspects of collecting that anyone new to the field will want to know, including a bit about its history in the U.S., some useful basic terminology, common types of evaluation for antiques and collectible items, and important criteria that are commonly used to assess value. We'll also talk about tips from experts, the importance of networking as a collector, and how to continue to build your knowledge of the field. A brief Q&A session will follow.
