Program Description

Description

Ira Marcks is a cartoonist and author of Shark Summer and Spirit Week. His love for ancient magic and possible futures has led him to create a warehouse of esoteric objects for the Hugo Award-winning magazine Weird Tales and to tell stories about villainous technology for the European Research Council.

Last summer, Ira Marcks burst onto the middle grade scene with his debut graphic novel Shark Summer, which was inspired by the horror classic Jaws. Shark Summer was selected to be on of the 2023 Battle of the Books reads in Carroll County.

In October, Ira Marcks released a second thrilling graphic novel, Spirit Week, which draws inspiration from another classic horror book/film: The Shining. Fun and spooky – without being too scary – this action-packed read will hook the attention of all graphic novel, horror, and film buffs.

Ira will be interviewed by Ted and Lory of Two Sides to the Story Podcast.

Books will be available for purchase and signing. Presented by A Likely Story Bookstore, Carroll County Public Schools, and Carroll County Public Library.
