Program Description

Description

The Killer Angels, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Civil War novel by Michael Shaara, will be the topic of a lecture and discussion. Local Civil War military historian Michael Eckard will explore the effects and influences the novel has had on Civil War history, the Battle of Gettysburg in particular, and subsequent historical writings. A display of artifacts related to Gettysburg and its aftermath will be on hand. It is not required but can be helpful to read the book ahead of time in order to participate in the discussion. Please contact your librarian to learn about ways to obtain a copy of the book. The book reading level targets 9th grade and up, but may be of interest to younger students too. All attendees (except Fairhaven Residents) need to register.
