Program Description

Description

“And before I’d be a slave I’ll be buried in my grave and go home to my Lord and be free.” - Oh, Freedom, 19th century spiritual

Travel in story from Africa to slavery to freedom, with stories of the Underground Railroad, Civil Rights, and African American Freedom Fighters. Janice the Griot uses historical stories to take audiences through Emancipation, Jim Crow, Civil Rights, and Black Lives Matter. Relive an escape from slavery, walk a picket line, sing a freedom song, and be a part of the story.
